Our pharmacy offers the unique service of compounding. These medications and doses are difficult for a majority of retail pharmacies and are not commercially available. We work directly with a physician’s request to make medications exactly right for the patient.
Compounding is the art of custom-made medications for patients. Its practice dates back to the origins of pharmacy; yet compounding’s presence in the pharmacy profession has changed over the years. In the 1930s and 40s, approximately 60% of all medications were compounded. With the advent of drug manufacturing on the 1950s and 60s, compounding rapidly declined. The pharmacist’s role as a preparer of medication quickly changed to that of a dispenser of manufactured dosage forms. However, within the last two decades, compounding has experienced resurgence as modern technology and innovative techniques and research have allowed more pharmacists to customized medications to meet specific needs.
We are a PCCA (Professional Compounding Centers of America) certified member. PCCA is our complete resource for fine chemicals, equipment, and accredited training. Once received, a customer care representative will contact you about your prescription. Most insurance plans will cover the prescribed medication. Your insurance claim will be handled by our staff and your only responsibility will be your usual co-pay or deductible.
PCCA has been an industry leader as the compounding profession has continued to flourish and advance, playing a vital role in the lives of patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacists alike.
As a distributor and repackager of both Active and Non Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients for pharmacy compounding, PCCA is registered and inspected by the FDA and DEA. The company is licensed in the state of Texas and all other states where licensure is required.
A compounding pharmacist’s mission is to serve patients with medications tailored specifically for them, those who for one reason or another have not been served by commercially available medications. In the same spirit, PCCA exists to help our member pharmacies successfully practice the art and science of pharmacy compounding through a variety of products and services designed especially for their practices.
